Isle of Eigg Brewery Visit

A Rainy Journey to Isle of Eigg Brewery: Exploring Local Beer Treasures

Last Sunday, my niece Kathrine and I set off on a much-anticipated trip to Isle of Eigg Brewery. Our journey took an unexpected but delightful detour when we decided to visit Ardgour Ales on the way (a spontaneous decision). I’ve always wanted to try their famous wood-fired pizzas, and I have to say, they didn’t disappoint—unreal pizzas! If you’re curious about their beers or planning a visit for a bite, you can learn more about Ardgour Ales here.

After indulging in the pizzas, we stayed over in Arisaig, enjoying a cozy Sunday evening at the Arisaig Hotel. Their roast dinner was fantastic, and I washed it down with a pint of Cromarty beer, another product we proudly stock at Oban Beer Seller. The next morning, we hopped on the CalMac ferry from Mallaig to Eigg, ready for our island adventure. The ferry ride offered stunning views of the Isle of Rum, which set the tone for the island’s natural beauty.

Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Stu from the brewery, who kindly dropped us off at the far end of the island. From there, we took a scenic walk starting from Singing Sands—an idyllic path showcasing the rugged beauty of the island, including breathtaking views of Rum along the way. We even got the full island experience, meeting the local minibus driver along the route!

At the brewery, we were given a full tour and shared a drink with the team. It was fascinating to hear about their year—a successful one with much of their beer now being enjoyed on draught in local pubs. They hinted at some exciting new beers coming soon, so keep your eyes peeled for updates!

Of course, we couldn’t leave without bringing some of their beer home, a reminder of the importance of supporting locally sourced products and businesses. This trip truly highlighted why shopping local matters—it’s about fostering connections and supporting the hard work and creativity of local producers.

Speaking of local, we’re exploring the idea of setting up a subscription service for our customers! We want to make it even easier for you to enjoy a regular supply of your favourite beers from Oban Beer Seller. We’ll be starting some market research soon and would love to hear your feedback. Stay tuned!
